Latitude e4300 laptop ssd compatibility?

I'm curious if most brands of SSD hard drives will work with the Dell Latitude e 4300? I look on the Dell website that the specifications on the system and hard drive,  and it says SATA. Is it SATA revision 1? Will other SATA versions work or is there a way to make them work? When looking on eBay for SSD drives, a lot of hard drives State AR SATA but do not State the revision. Will a SATA III drive work?

I believe as an out of warranty thing that if it fits then it will work.  I assume you are looking for specialized equipment but it is difficult to find.  I just assume that if the device does not work under SATA III 6GB/sec then it would downgrade to SATAII.  Basically the same as using USB storage devices.

I'm not sure it had Sata 2 compatability it just says Sata.  Any advantage of ssd in USB external?

Yes.  You know if it is just SATA you get a 1.5GB/s data transfer rate.  That is still faster than most platter drives.

An external SATA -> USB device does work but it goes as fast as USB2 does usually.
