M6400: Slim Auto-Air AC/DC power adapter?
This site says this adapter is compatible with the M6400:
http://www.acadapterz.com/product_33059.html
Is that correct?
I assume it doesn't charge the battery at that low of a wattage..
Is this the only option for a M6400 car adapter (or just a smaller power supply)..?
Thanks

See the review HERE that answers your questions. It looks good if your M6400 runs on a 65 watt AC adapter.

The M6400 usually uses a 210W adapter..
I was just wondering if there was a more portable adapter. From another post on these forums, someone said:
smaller M6400 power supply

I have tried the much smaller 90W power supply of my Dell D810 laptop with my M6400 laptop.
It works fine, seemingly.
Other than a slower charge of the battery, is there any risk of damaging the M6400?
I have even measured the power consumed by the M6400 while working and it is around 54 W while working, it rarely goes over 70 W, so 90W should be fine.
Thanks,
Antonio
The link you sent had a review that said a lower wattage power supply may make the notebook run slower. I want to run with full processing power, and have ac/dc capabilities.
I figured a 120W adapter would work fine, like this one:
http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=3522&review=Kensington+Power+Adapter
But at the bottom of the page it says "A note of caution > Do not attempt to use this item if your notebook needs more than 120W of power. Some large notebooks (generally 17" and larger) need more than 120W of power, and using this item will damage your notebook." How could running a 120W power supply on a M6400 harm it? I figured the battery would just charge slower (if it charged at all)..
I just want a slim ac/dc adapter for the M6400 so I don't have to carry around the cinder block.

Neither the Dell Slim Adapter nor the Kensington adapter is suitable if your Precision M6400 has a 210 watt AC adapter. Overheating of an adapter could lead to failure of the adapter that could possibly lead to damage of the laptop.

So I have no option for a more portable power adapter for the M6400?
A DC adapter?

What you appear to need is a DC to DC converter with the following specification:
Input voltage range: 11 volts DC ~ 16 volts DC
Regulated output voltage: 19.5 volts DC
Maximum output current: 10.8 amps
I suggest you contact a specialist supplier such as the one HERE to see whether they can help.
