Memory Upgrade Breaks Warranty

I'm looking to purchase a new laptop for my small business. I was told by a major box store that if I upgrade to 8 MG it will void the Dell warranty, even if they do it. Is this correct? I've been trying to call to ask this question for 3 days and getting through is a nightmare of support disaster.

Hi ,

Regret the inconvenience caused ! 

While upgrading the system memory its suggested to confirm if that system is designed to support that particular memory capacity .So I would ask you to confirm the system model so that I can accordingly check and advise if that memory capacity is supported .

If you are purchasing the upgraded capacity memory module on the same order as the system then the memory module has the  same warranty mentioned on that particular order .Finally warranty terms and conditions are subjected to change based on the region ,warranty mentioned on that order or the service tag .

So would suggest you to keep the invoice at hand  and if there are any more queries kindly send them via private message so that I can assist you but before the purchase is made .

We are a technology consulting company. There was never a question as to the amount of memory that the processor could handle. The only question was the void of the warranty if we upgraded the memory. The answer is clearly that it is not voided. Thank you.

Hi Aly ,

The warranty conditions are subjected to change based on the terms mentioned and accepted on the invoice (Dell invoice ) be it for the system or for a spare part .In case of replacements only the parts mentioned on that order will be replaced (as per the warranty mentioned on it ) .
