You could download Dell's Asset.com program.  Run "asset /?" to find out how to use the program.  You can use this to add your Asset Tag into the BIOS.  This isn't exactly what you are looking for but it is one more layer for identification.

The unfortunate part is that you need to have a floppy disk drive to use this as is from Dell.  You could create a bootable CD using the floppy image and then boot from the CD on your system that does not have a floppy drive.

I have a Web Page that describes how to create the CD.

"asset" can modify service tag(if blank), asset tag and owner tag. The owner tag will display in password screen, it limited to 48 character.

SVCTAG.EXE is a better utility to use in order to modify the service tag info.  The latest release of this utility, version 3.0, can also erase any previously entered tag.  SVCTAG.EXE and ASSET.COM are included in the bootable Dell Diagnostic CD linked below under the folder named "SVCTAG".

**WARNING**  As with any flashBIOS utility, use these BIOS editing tools at your own risk!

Thanks to all for the replies.  My SVCTAG # already displays but I'd like Name/Phone info to display so police or someone else can contact me.  BTW, I *won't* use home phone to trace me to my house -- it can be an ugly world out there....  Thanks again all for the prompt support.  r/RR
