NTLDR error and error Code 0414 when running diagnostics
I'm working on an Inspiron 1520.
when i try to reboot, I get the "NTLDR is missing".
I used a utility that runs a mini windows xp from the CDROM drive but I couldn't see tha hardrive from there.
I ran some utilities that check and repair errors on the disk and it found now errors or bad sectors.
Also ran a utility to check if you can "seek" on the hardrive and that was fine.
Ran the Dell diagnostics and it came up with the following:
"Error Code 0414.
MSG: Error Code 2000-0414
MSG: Hardware Dectect Error - Inverter Cable Not Detected.
Can someone tell me what that means?

Bad sectors mean the hard drive needs to be replaced. The other issue warrants checking to make sure the inverter (backlight power supply) is properly connected to the system board.

I know this thread is old but I experienced a similar issue with two separate Latitude e5400s. Both had suspected hard drive issues. When the diagnostic was run system displayed the 2000-0414 error, which the diagnostic program lists as being related to the inverter (I assume that's the LCD inverter). In both cases no issue was found or observed with the inverter or LCD and when the hard drive was replaced the diagnostic no longer reported the error.
