Need FingerPrint Reader Driver for Vostro 3550

Hi All,

I purchased the Dell Vostro 3550 without the pre-installed Windows 7 option, and as a result, they didn't gave me the driver CD citing some royalty issues. I found all the drivers except FingerPrint Reader Driver.  If anybody has this driver, please upload it in some public uploading sites or mail me at : < ADMIN NOTE : Email id removed per privacy policy > .

Thanks in advance.

Look for the Dell ControlPoint download at support.dell.com.  It requires several things be loaded BEFORE you install that drive, so see

support.dell.com/.../document

(start with step 3).

Thanks for replying but this is not of any use.  I talked to Dell representatives and they told that this driver isn't available on their site. I searched the Web but went in vain.

If you've the driver CD for Vostro 3550, kindly upload it on public uploading sites such as skydrive.live.com, adrive.com, etc.

The application within this download is identical to that in another specifically recommended for the Vostro 3350. In my case, although the installation program starts, it does NOT complete, and it gives no message about the problem. The progress bar simply stops after a few indicators, and then the installation screen disappears.

When I check for the existence of the software supposedly installed, it does not exist, I am running the machine with Windows 7x64. The device driver is installed, and it is seen in Devices. However, when I use the Help offerings to actually set up the Fingerprint Reader, it says the device or driver is NOT installed.

In other words, this machine that, according to the specifications has a Biometric (fingerprint) Reader, and has the working driver installed, doesn't know that it is installed. And the hardware manufacturer (now owned by Logitech), only refers inquiries back to Dell.

I am open to any other suggestions.
