Laptop boots to:
"WARNING: The TPM could not be initialized."
" Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run the setup utility"
TPM is the Trusted Platform Module and has controls in the system BIOS. I've tried enabling/disabling this, with no luck. Also, with this TPM error, the NIC is not usuable. If I didn't need the NIC, I could disable TPM to bypass the error.
I've also tried reflashing the system BIOS with no luck.
Odd that three machines are having a problem on the same day. I'll probably end up giving DELL a call today. I will post my findings here.
Replacing the motherboard was a success. We had a long wait getting it here, but once installed, the machine worked fine. And if you think about it: why not? It's the TPM chip thats failing, and thats on the motherbaord. Replacing the motherboard replaces the chip...
I hope you guys have success in your replacements.
Well in my case I took my laptop to work and the error hasn't com back.
It could have something to do with either the LAN cable or power cable being connected during boot.
I too just took a brand new D610 out of the box and got the same error. My unit was received the last week of 9/2005. Motherboard was replaced and all is okay. Must be a bad batch of boards or something.

Second half hour was him convicing me to run a system restore.
The last hour was him having me reinstall Broadcom TPM drivers over and over.
They are sending me a new motherboard to see if that resolves it.

Let me know how you get on - I don't fancy sending my laptop off or whatever for no reason and it's just coming up to the time when I need this thing.
