Overheating and compatibility issues with AutoCAD

I too am considering using this Smartstep 250 as a boat anchor.  I have had the heat sink, fan, and processor all changed out by Dell and four months later I am having the same problems.

Is anyone having an issue using AutoCAD with this computer.  The mobility M6 video card does not seem to be working properly and I'm having a problem with cursor trails on my screen.  In order for it to work right, I have to go into my settings and turn the hardware acceleration down to zero.  Any help with this would be appreciated.

I am on Autocad all day, everyday.  I purchased the 250N so I could work on designs while on the road.  The display size and resolution were attractive features.  That was until the first time I turned it on and used it on Autocad.  Long story short, the video card cannot support Autocad on high acceleration.  I have to use the same fix you do (put the acceleration to zero) in order to eliminate the cursor trails.  I haven't found a way around that...and Dell is no help either.  To be honest though, I don't see any difference in other programs that effects the computer's performance when the acceleration is set to zero.

Now I use our office's 5 year old Inspiron and my 250N has become a paper weight.  Dell tried to take 2 steps forwards with the 250N but ended up going 3 steps backwards...at the expense of many 250N users.

It's the driver for the Radeon. I had this problem and it was solved by installing, I think, the next most recent driver. Go to the downloads section of this site and get the driver before the most recent and if that doesn't work, go one back from that. Once you find the right one, Autocad functions perfectly.
