PC can't project to another screen

When trying to use Inspiron 5421 with projector, I recv error mssg: "your PC can't project to another screen. Try re-installing the driver or use another videocard."

Drivers are updated.  Had previously worked with same projector prior to Windows 8.1 update.

Has anyone else experienced this?  How did you resolve it?
