run diagnostics boot to f12 as soon as you hit the power button go into diagnostics check the hardware if it passes please check the driver uninstall in safe mode using f8 at boot up uninstall the texas instrument listed there and restart the system with the card out see if it helps
you have to continuously tap f12 as soon as you hit the power button and then once you continuously tap the f12 you will see a one time boot menu it is a black screen with internal hdd modular bay and so on at the bottom is diagnostics run the extended test to test everything on the system to see if it is the pcmcia slot or if it is the housing if you have your notebook system software cd you placed that in the system and reinstall texas instrument under chipset driver if diagnostics pass and reinstalling the driver is not a resolution then try to run a repair on windows if that doesnt work its either hardware replacement or reinstall....

I did this for five boot ups. The laptop will beep four times and then beep everytime I tap the F12 key. I have the A15 Bios upgrade and I think that maybe that doesn't work with the A15. I even tried fn+F12. Nothing
I also downloaded the CZ110200.exe Diagnostice tool from Downloads and drivers page and ran it twice in Dos. It runf for thirty seconds and froze while loading something to do with mouse.
So that too is useless. Very Frustrating.
Can't run diagnostic but I get beeps whenever I take the pc card out of a slot. Why does it recognise the card like that AFTER I take it out?
Once again I have a Dell Latitude CPi-A with Win98SE OS. BIOS is A15.
Two days ago when I first installed the OS I left the pc card in the slot and I chose "Laptop" instead of "Typical" installation.
So today I decided to reformat the HD and do a clean and typical Win98 installation with no Pc modem card in the slot. I then installed the Dell Windows9x Operating System Update version A10.
Still, I can't get my pc modem card recognised. It beeps twice when I pull it out and does nothing when I insert card in either socket.
The PC Card(PCMCIA) interface perpetually lists each socket as "Empty" no matter what I do.
I have booted to safemode and taken out the two Texas Instruments PCI-1225 CardBus Controller (hardware version 001) and when I reboot I am faced with a PCMCIA wizard that is confusing.
During installation I was taken through the same PCMCIA wizard interface which I never really understand.
Am I supposed to select certain drivers to be disabled?
Which files am I supposed to disable? It gives me a long list of mouse and keyboard drivers so I always click the "No" and "Next" buttons during this wizard interface.
Can someone give me a rundown of what I am supposed to do during this wizard in order to get Win98SE to recognize the card.
Also is there a latter version of the Texas Instrument PCI-1225 CardBus Controller driver that I should be using or that would work?
I swapped the daughter board (thats what its called right?) from my old mother board and put it on my new motherboard. when I booted, it went through an add hardware setup but not for the pcmcia but for the display driver and oher things.
The daugter card has the pc slot connected to it. This did not work. I still coudn't get the pc card recognised.
I changed the daughterboard back to the original and swapped the slot. Still nothing.
When I attempt to install Combo card Fax/Modem enabler, V1.0 I always get the message: "Card Services not found."
Or when I attempt to install ActionTec PCMCIA Ethernet Fax/Modem installation program version 1.02
I get messages like "Make sure you have card and socket services installed on your computer." and "Card and socket services have not been detected. Please make ensure that your card and socket services are properly configured..."
How do I know I have socket service installed and how do I configure it?
I have one more option: Install WinXP. Because my pc card used to work when I had XP installed on the notebook but my Xp cd is now corrupted.
This is what I get when I run Dell Diagnostic 4.02A without any pc cards in the slot
PCIC Socket A
Interface type: Memory & I/0
Revision: 4
PC Card Power: NOT Active
PC Card: None Detected
Disable/Resume Resetdrv: NOT Active
Automatic Power Switch: Disabled
PC Card Power: Disabled
Card status changed interrupt: Disabled.
With the card in the first slot:
PCIC Socket A
Interface type: Memory & I/0
Revision: 4
PC Card Power: NOT Active
PC Card: Present and Fully Seated
PC Card Condition: Busy
Disable/Resume Resetdrv: NOT Active
Automatic Power Switch: Disabled
PC Card Power: Disabled
Card status changed interrupt: Disabled.
PCIC Socket B
Interface type: Memory & I/0
Revision: 4
PC Card Power: NOT Active
PC Card: None Detected
Disable/Resume Resetdrv: NOT Active
Automatic Power Switch: Disabled
PC Card Power: Disabled
Card status changed interrupt: Disabled.
Since the card is recognised in the diagnostic test, does that still mean its a hardware problem?

I just performed a diagnostic test with Diagnostic 4.02A03 file on a floppy.
I did a full test.
PCMCIA Test - PCMCIA : Pass
PCMCIA Power - Not Active.
Could this be the reason my pc modem card is not being recognised? Because PCMCIA Power is not active?
What can I do to activate PCMCIA power?
