PLEASE HELP - Inspiron 1545 Integrated Microphone Not Working
I have a Dell Inspiron 1545, 64 bit. Windows 7.
My microphone & webcam worked fine at first, then I noticed webcam central was missing, and the mic didn't work. I just re-installed webcam central, but the mic is still not working.
If I am webcamming with someone, and I hit the mic directly, it releases sound, however, I cannot speak into it.
What is wrong & can someone please help fix this..

Install the IDT audio driver for the 1545 if you have not yet done so. Go to the Sounds properties and select the Recording tab. It should look similar to this:
If you do not see "Microphone Array", right click in the white area.and select to show disabled devices and show disconnected devices. If the mic array is hidden there, enable it.
If that does not help, there is a microphone trouble shooter in this Dell article. "The Webcam Microphone Is Not Working".

I did as you said and downloaded, but when I opened the download, it gave me this, and won't let me do anything, and it closes.

Am I doing something wrong?

You are using the Dell Download Manager to download the files which sometimes causes problems. You can avoid the problems by using your browser to download, but when you selected to use Download Manager, Dell put a cookie on your computer that will prevent you from selecting to use the browser. To get out of having to use the Download Manager:
Internet Explorer
> Go into your browser settings and delete all Dell cookies (or clear all your browser cache).
> Now attempt to download the driver again. A popup box should appear on your screen with the options of "Download via Dell Download Manager" or "Download via Your Internet Browser". Select "Download via Your Internet Browser".
Firefox you can delete all cookies or just the bad one
> Click "Tools" (on the Firefox menu bar)
> Options
> Privacy
> "Remove Individual Cookies"
> Dell.com (click on + sign to expand)
> sdc (select it and click "remove cookie")
> Attempt to download the driver again. A popup box should appear on your screen with the options of "Download via Dell Download Manager" or "Download via Your Internet Browser". Select "Download via Your Internet Browser".

That's pretty bad news. Try installing all of the older versions of the driver and see if any of them will install. The links to them are here:

The only other way I know to deal with that error is to re-install Windows.
