Man, you're brave. Don't know what colour would exactely match the current silver, but I wouldn't anyway. Try a lighter silver colour, like on the M60 and D800, it will look really good. Dunno how you are going to do it perfectly, you would have to spray it and I don't think you can remove some of the blue trim from the palmrest. Good luc, and if you go ahead then be sure to post some pics!

stu's color suggestion would really look good, but be aware that the paint will wear off after some time and then your machine will look really ugly (or you'll have to repaint it).

If you take your laptop to Home Depot or another home improvement store...they usually have excellent paint matching techniques....

They could mix a paint for you or tell you what the exact paint code or mixture would be...

But the others are right...you should just buy the actuall plastic piece from Dell rather than paint it...

actually i should have been more clearer.  I wanted to repaint my Power Button Bar, the blue thing so it is completely silver like the new Inspiron laptops.  So i dont have to worry much about Paint rubbing off.

For my LCD Cover I was thinking buying some Carbon Fiber Vinyl and put it on.  That'll look nice.

No offense to dell, but i don't really like the Blue/Silver Color.

You could buy a cover from Dell, and then have it painted .

I love the gray/silver colors but what looks good is the Graphite Swirl LCD cover you might want to try it for an 8600 or 600m!
