Perform Windows 10 clean install & delete Dell Recovery Partition Windows 7 ?
Hi,
- The original Dell Recovery Partition on my laptop (2013 model) is a Windows 7 version
- I also created a Dell Restore Media (Windows 7) on a USB stick.
- However, recently I upgraded to Windows 10
- Assume now I create a Windows 10 clean install on a USB stick
- Also I downloaded the required Dell Drivers on a USB.
- I also got the Win 10 activation key
- And I want now perform a clean WIndows 10 installation
Questions to be answered:
- Screenshot above, I assume this my current Windows 7 Factory Recovery File?
2. Do I first need to delete this Recovery (D:) ? If yes, how?
3. After the removal, would I still be able to use my current Windows 10 (with no problems, in the period of time before the Windows 10 clean installation)?
4. Any additional suggestions/tips?
Thank you in advance!

If you boot from the Windows 10 USB stick it will give you formatting/partitioning options before the install starts.

- Does this mean I can delete Recovery (D:), before formatting Drive (C:) (during the Install Procedure)?
- Or is it possible/better using Disk Management?

Yes if you want (and are happy to) you can partition during installation and in fact it's often better to do it at this stage as nothing will be locked out from changes which is often the case when you are attempting to run these tools from inside an OS.

Thank you!
Last questions:
Question 1:
The Windows 7 OEM installed by Dell is a Dutch version. Hence I upgraded to Windows 10 Dutch version.
However I prefer English, Now I added an English version in Windows 10.
During creation of Windows 10 Bootable USB, am I forced to choose the Dutch version or can I directly choose English (will this not lead to activation problems later on)?
Question 2:
http://www.cnet.com/how-to/clean-install-windows-10/
The link above explains a clean install of Windows 10, on a system already running Windows 10, is also possible through "Reset" option in Settings.
Does this mean, that the Dell Recovery (D:) will also be deleted?

I suspect (although I can't confirm) that you can change the default language after installation as in previous installations I've ended up with English (US) when I wanted English (UK) and have had to remove the US language option.

In other words,

I'd suggest you have a go and see as any partitioning steps will be at the start of the installation routine.
