Port replicator and PPC2003 sync problem

I have a D600 Laptop that I am having a problem syncing my IPAQ 4155 Pocket PC (PPC) to when the computer is in the port replicator (PR01X). 

 

When I connect the PPC directly to the laptops USB I don't have any problem (remove PPC from cradle, return later resyncs fine) . 

 

If I connect the PPC to the USB on the port replicator I can get it to sync once, but it will not recognize the PPC the next time I place it in the cradle (remove PPC from cradle, return later Laptop will not reconnect to PPC).  The only way to get the port replicator to reconnect to the PPC is to reinstall the active sync S/W.  The only other USB device used is a Dell USB mouse (used only in the docked configuration).  I tried running the system docked without the USB mouse but that did not take care of the problem.  Does anyone have any suggestions on how to solve this problem?
