Port replicator / docking station that fits new laptops without huge gap at back?

The newer Dell laptops (the Precision 7510, for example) have the bottom dock connectors very close to the back edge of the body, so that when you connect to them you have this huge gap at the back even if you slide the little dealy forward that is meant to account for different battery sizes. Yes, I know you can get this plastic spacer to fit in the gap so it is easier to line up, but the way it fits makes it take up a stupid amount of space.

Is there a Dell port replicator that actually has the connectors close to the back so that it doesn't waste all this desk space?

And, yes, I know that they make port replicators that the laptop doesn't sit on, that use the thunderbolt or usb port instead of the dock connector on the bottom. I'm asking specifically about port replicators that use that bottom connector.)

Thanks!

And BTW, Dell, it really doesn't help that you try to hide this by offering one photo of most of these replicators taken at an angle where it's really hard to judge that space.

blackbrook,

Below is a link to our Dell port replicators and docking stations. You will need to chat to the sales person for more information. Also, is a post from a user on the DCF with the same system. He was issues an E-Port plus II.

"At work my laptop was upgraded to a Precision 7510. With it I got an E-Port Plus II docking station, which was basically the same as the one I had for my Dell Latitude E6520, except wider. It's a stretch to say that the laptop fits this port expander. Yes, you can connect it, but it's like putting a 5 year old kid in a 42 large suit-- he can get into it, but it certainly doesn't fit.

I told our procurement dept. that they gave me the wrong port expander, though from the answers here it seems that Dell doesn't make one to fit this laptop. Is that something that's coming out soon? Or am I stuck with the kludge I have now"
