Basically it says to disable UAC before installing.  No Malware protection is running as it's a new install.  OK Vista has Windows Defender but you shouldn't need to switch this off too.

I disabled UAC and rebooted but the install fails to install the driver for the Radeon 3450.  I can't even find this on the 1537 download page.  I'm using the download for the 1536 which has the same graphics chip.

What else can I do?  Surely this affects all Studio 1537 owners and someone must have wiped and reinstalled the OS before?

Any help would be great. Thanks.

Follow-up.

After reading more about Mobility Modder I think I understand the issue.

Although the drivers mention the same model of graphics card perhaps the actual hardware ID does not match those mentioned in the *.inf files?

As no drivers for the Radeon 3450 are available from the 1537 downloads page I took a look in the box the laptop came in for a CD containing them.  There one was.  Now I knew one might be there but I tend to ignore these CD's as I feel their most likely out-of-date.  Going online ensures the latest drivers.

Anyhow, the drivers on the CD install without issue.

So, knowing about the Mobility Modder and the fact the 1536 drivers don't work, Dell must have changed details within the graphics chip ensuring only their precise driver files work.

The question, therefore, is why are these drivers not available to download?

I best keep this CD safe!

Dell, please update the downloads page for the 1537 to include everything needed for this laptop.

Thanks.

Glad to hear you finally installed it.Yes windows defender does block the install of the mod .inf, all AV's and firewall's need to be turned off for this to install.
