Problem on upgrading display screen in better resolution
Hello !
But I'm encountering a big problem, my display is weird (there is some green filter added) in addition Windows 8 does not completely (it stop after the blue logo).
I can see something if I boot on my Ubuntu USB. Even the boot logo have the green filter.
On the others side if I come back to the original disciple screen, all is well. So, at a first sight I think it is not a connector problem or a graphics card problem.
It's a Dell Studio 1555 with a ATI Mobility Radeon 4500, I'm here if you need more information.

Yes, the connector is the same - however, as you can see by the listings at parts-people.com, the cables differ for different screen resolutions. What you usually see is missing pixels if you try to use a low-res cable with high-res screen -- that isn't what your photo shows. Check to make sure there's no damage to the LCD or mainboard connector - it looks almost like some pins aren't making proper contact. The other thing to check is to ensure the panel you bought is known to be compatible with your system - LCDs are not universally compatible - the system must be able to recognize the EDID of the display. If it doesn't, you can see issues such as the one your photo shows.

I reply a little bit late. But you were right, I order the cable W805M for my Studio 1555 and replace the original one (only compatible with 1366*768) by the new one (compatible 1600*900 and Full HD). And everything back to a normal situation.
Advise for anyone want to do the same thing: Be careful, I don't know why but Windows won't start after this (it does not detect the new resolution), you have to take your hard drive and boot it in another PC and choose the correct resolution. Afterwards, replace it in the laptop.

Em, no. I did not know that. This kind of cable (ribbon cable is't it?) is no included in the screen package and I never heard of that ^^.
Do you know the reference for this specific cable ?

Could be an incompatible screen - but if you changed the resolution of the screen, you must also change the cable that runs between the mainboard and screen. Did you do that?

I would like to install a 1600*900 display screen (like the buggy image said) instead of my original 1366*768. Also you can see in this link (www.laptopscreen.com/.../STUDIO~1555) all connector is 40 pin LED socket.
