Problem with Inspiron 5150

Hi.Few days ago I posted a message about problem with my new Inspiron 5150 DVD/CD drive playback.(2.66GHZ

speed.512mb-RAM,64mb NVidia card). It freezes(stutteres) every 2 min. or so for 5 sec. then plays OK for 2 min.

and then freezes again for 5 sec.Well Dell sent me new DVD drive and I installed it.Unfurtunately it didn't fix

the problem. After spending few more days with this computer and getting better feel of it I found some

aditional things that may help to diagnose the problem.Things kind of related.

    1. The most important discovery I've made was when I downloaded from the Web a large video file (10min.

long)and to my disapointment it had exactly the same problem. It played OK for a while than it froze(stuttered)

for 5 sec, then played OK for 2min, and  it froze again for 5 sec.Same problem I had with DVD/CD drive. So in my

opinion the problem is with some other part of the computer, not with the DVD drive.

2.Some extra mis-functioning that happens in about 2min.time intervals could point to the problem.I noticed

by accident that when I was downloading a large series of pictures of exactly the same size from the same

website there was a slowdown approximately every 2 min. when I tried to download or safe a picture(example:I am

downloading  and saving 5 pics one after another and they behave in similar way -work fast without any

problem, then the 6th picture all of a sudden takes 5-6 more times longer to download  or if I get cought during

the saving ,the saving takes 5-6 more times longer then  the previous 5 pictures(as I mentioned, they all of the

same size).

3.Aditional mis-functioning at the same time interval. When I scroll web page it goes smoothly and and then

all of a sudden it starts making jerky movements, then it gets out of control for few sec. and then it goes OK

for few min.Of course you can only notice it if you do real none-stoppable surfing(like doing research) when

you are in action every second.

4.Also on my desktop once in a while when I double click on an icon it doesn't open program right away you

have to wait few seconds when most of the time the same programs open faster. Also it affects typing. At same

2min. interval(not exactly, aproximately) the letters don't appear on the screen then all of a sudden  they jump

out few of them at the same time or some of them just missing when you read what you wrote latter.

It feels like there is general slowdown-misfunction that accures on my computer effecting everything at

aproximately 2 min. time interval.Well this is how it feels after spending a week with my new computer. I did

complete check-up with Diagnostic Tools. Everything  returned without any errors.

If anybody out there has any idea what part of my computer could be responsible for this kind of

behavior, please post a brief message.I would really appriciate any help from anybody.Of course I sent a message

to Dell support, but I don't trust them.By dealing with them in the past I realised that they don't know much

what they are talking about. They usually suggest you to go The Forum anyway.

                                                                               Thank you very much. Leo777
