Your best bet is to contact the seller.  Dell has followed HP/Compaq, Gateway/Acer/eMachines, Sony, Toshiba, and others in making specific models for specific retailers - they're all slightly different, depending on the the retailer from whom you buy.

Thanks for the reply

I'll check with the store. A bit annoying that I didn't know this before but I'll survive.

Hi, also purchased an Inspiron 1545 from Tesco - no webcam or mic, but I agree with the earlier reply.

I think that Dell are making machines to spec for their customers. IYou can but the same spec machine in Tesco but in three colours - red, black or blue. The price - £349 - is good for the spec you get, but you don't necessarily get 'all the frills'!

Still an excellent machine for the money though!

I purchased a 1545 from Best Buy and it came without Webcam and Microphone as well.

Have you noticed that if yu try to look up specs for it, the model doesn't exist on most vendor sites.  I was trying to find some 2GB memory modules for it, and most of the sights don't list a 1545 model at all.
