Hi, I have a Dell laptop that I bought about 9 months ago. And I removed a lot of the unnecessary stuff that was installed on it. But now I was just wondering if some of these things are safe to remove..

like...

Dell Touchpad - if i remove this will i still be able to use the touchpad? - touchpade will work, but, you won't be able use edge scroll.
DellSupport - It's for proactive driver update notification from Dell. should i remove it? i dont think i use it - it's up to you, if you remove it, you have to check for updates manually
QuickSet - delete? - no, if you delete it, power settings, and onscreen Volume / Brightness, as well as Mobility Centre are removed
Digital Line Detect - what is it? safe to remove? - I think this has to do with either the modem or sound (recent dells come w/ Digital Audio Out)
Dell System Customization Wizard - and this?  - see what it does and decide.
Dell DataSafe Online - backup system i guess.. what do you suggest? - see what it does and decide, but it's a good idea to keep it so you can back up your files and get them anywhere you are... it's similar to yahoo!'s briefcase or Live Storage from MS.
Banctec Service Agreement (Dell) - uhhh...? no clue.  Perhaps call Tech / CSR and ask for their help

I don't think I need em. Just making sure. Thanks!

I just bought 1720 Inspiron and got tired of the very slow Vista startup.  Rather than delete what I don't know, I went to Run, msconfig and reviewed the startup, the file locations and information, and then just disabled all this stuff until I see what happens.  The way the administer is set up, the system complained that Windows expected these things in startup but I just clicked "don't tell me"  I eventually just uninstalled things that were 30 day trial software.  I see from previous reply that I should probably go back and let some of these start with the computer.  The issue for me continues to be the very odd way Vista loads and how slow it is.  reconfiguring the startup didn't change that much.
