RAM or CPU error? Precision M6400
LED post message says RAM error (AC plugged in, HDD are not started), after i removed 1 module, there post message says CPU error (HDD are started). Where is bug? RAM, CPU, possibly MB? (CPU, RAM and all connectors cleaned and reseated) ... warranty ends before 2 weeks ago :(

Hi
As per the first message only CAPS LOCK blinking its Memory compatability error.Second message NumLock blinking, CAPS LOCK and Scroll lock are ON its System board error.
So for the first message Memory compatability error, though you've tried reseating RAM,if two modules are installed remove one and test. Try the other module in the same slot and test. Test the other slot with both modules.
Even after testing both memory module on both the slots if issue persists and you continue to get the second message, since you've already reseating the processor, most likely system board needs to be replaced.
Post back if you continue to get the same error. Also private message me your System Service tag number. To private message click on my user name, click start conversation.
Thank You

Hi vrbiss,
Welcome to the Community,
If its a No Post situation system LED Num Lock,Caps Lock and Scroll Lock can be used as diagnostic indicator.
When you turn on the system, check the status of these LED.Is it ON-FLASH-FLASH or OFF-FLASH-OFF or something else.
Post back the status on these LED.
Thank You
vrbiss

Already in the question I wrote that states are determined from POST. LED blinking :) 1st message only CAPS LOCK blinking. 2nd message NumLock blinking, CAPS LOCK and Scroll lock are ON.

MB is dead, CPU is dead.
Dell service man was there. I accidentally looked at another invoice, which is the same notebook, but after the warranty. This NB guarantee expires in 4 days. So lucky :)
Thx

If all three are blinking, it 's a bad system board.
