REALLY slow network file transfer

1530 XPS

Vista - 32bit

ok i was transfering through a 100Mbit network cable between my computer and my laptop at 9 mb/sec.

i recently formatted and now its transfering at 2-5 KB/sec on a 100Mbit network....

and transfering around 700kb/sec - 1 mb/sec through the wireless network.. which is still slow

i installed the network cable drivers yet its still soooo slow.... what can i do?

thanks

P.S - im getting normal download speeds through cable networking and wireless (about 150kb/sec download speed 1.5mbit)

Are you connection the 2 computers together through the network cable directly? or through a router? If you use a router, have you checked the routers settings? Check all cables and ends to see if anything is broke/cracked?  Check computers nic settings ( you can set max speed usually in settings )  Antivirus running on either that may be scanning the files as they are being transferred?

I would suggest turning off your antivirus and firewall while transerring.. see if that helps..  make sure you scan all the files once they are transferred to make sure you arent sending any infected files..

how are you connecting these 2 computers when using the network cable? via router?
