Recording sound problem

Hi all,

I wanted to record my sound. But whenever i press the record button of " Sound recording" programme of windows My voice is not getting recorded. Instead of that when i playback that recording i hear AM/FM radio. I tried using reinstalling windows but the same problem persists. Even using the call option of yahoo messenger my friends can hear the AM/FM radio not my voice. I can hear their voice. Can u all please troubleshoot me to solve this problem.

THankx.

You didn't say what model computer you are using or if you are using its built-in mic or an external one. If external I would guess a cable with faulty shielding has become a radio antenna and it's blocking your voice from getting through.

Here is how to set up Sound Recorder just to double-check the configuration:

Open Windows Sound Recorder under Start/Programs/Accessories/Entertainment.

Click on the Edit menu, then on Audio Properties.

Click on 'Volume' under 'Sound Recording' (not Sound Playback).

Click on the 'Select' box underneath the 'Microphone' control.

Push the mic volume slider all the way up.

Click on 'Advanced' under the microphone select box. Check the mic boost box.

Now you are configured for mic recording. Close all of the windows boxes except SR.

Click on the red Record button and then speak into the mic. If the green line moves then the mic is working. To hear the recording click on stop and then the 1st arrow to go back to the beginning. Click play.

Hats of to you.

your this line gave me a hint (If external I would guess a cable with faulty shielding has become a radio antenna and it's blocking your voice from getting through.) to change the mic. Which i did and found that u were absolutely correct.
