Recovery Partition Full
I have an Inspiron 1545 laptop. I manually re-installed the operating system and drivers. The recovery partition (drive E) is now full. I believe this is preventing me from uploading and applying patches to the operating system. Can I clear the recovery partition, just leaving emply folders without harming the rest of the system?

You are not supposed to use the Recovery Partition for ANYTHING. This partition contains the programs needed to restore operating system to "Factory Conditions. The OS is to be installed in the C: partition.

I did not reinstall the OS to the recovery partition. It was manually installed to the C drive drive.

Then what is it full with? Nothing is to be put in this directory. If you delete the wromg files, the Recovery will no longer work.

I have the same problem. I have a DELL Inspiron 1545. 350 GB hard drive with 15 GB allocated to the recovery drive. I tried to do a clean install of Windows 7 professional. I originally had Windows 7 Home Premium. Once the install was done the recovery drive is showing full, but with no folders or files. (I installed to C: drive and it is there, but now Windows 7 Home is on the recovery drive and full). I can not install any programs because it's telling me I don't have enough space. My C: drive has over 200 GB available. I've tried DiskPart and can not do a delete partition override. I can not delete the volume and I can not shrink the volume. There ar no files or folders to clean up. I've gone online and this seems to be a problem for a lot of people, but I can't find a resolution. I'm at a loss for what to do other than buying a new hard drive which I don't really have the money to do just after Christmas!
