Reinstall "DellDataSafe Local Backup"
Hi,
I accidentally uninstalled the "DellDataSafe Local Backup" on my Inspiron 17R N7010 laptop. Upon re-installation I get the error message: "Dell DataSafe Local Backup cannot be installed because your hard drive does not have a backup copy of your factory image". But I do have the Recovery partition. I don't know what else to do to make this re-install happen. Please advise. Thank You!

If I follow steps 1 through 9 of "http://dell.to/16payKB" to check if I get the option for ‘Dell Data Safe Local Backup & Restore’ or ‘Dell Factory Image Restore’." What exactly does that tell me regarding the information I get on what to do?
On the "http://bit.ly/bbYoho" link I clicked on Step 1 to download the DSLCheck.exe app. And what is very strange that I have never seen before: it only stays in my download folder for a moment then disappears. Therefore I am unable to download this app. But I did run the DSLCheck app from IE successfully, however I never did see a result. No popup. Nothing. I wish I knew why this is.
I think that I am still stuck.

Hi DellLapi,
You may have the recovery partition; however it could be the recovery image that has gone bad.
You may try to check if you get the option for ‘Dell Data Safe Local Backup & Restore’ or ‘Dell Factory Image Restore’.
You may follow the steps listed in the link below; however do not try steps beyond Step 9 as that would delete data.
The link is http://dell.to/16payKB
Click on the link and chose the operating system.
You may also refer to the link below and follow the steps provided on the right side to install the application.
The link is http://bit.ly/bbYoho
Please feel free to reply for any further assistance. I will be glad to assist you further.

Hi DellLapi,
Please run the following Tagrecovery file which will tag the restore partition.
http://dslbdownload.datasafelocalbackup.com/utilities/TagRecoveryPart.zip
After extracting the file, right click and run as Administrator. The tiny window would flash for a moment and disappear. No confirmation box will be displayed.
The above step may take some time. Once done, proceed with installing Data Safe Local from the link below

Keep me posted with the information. I will be glad to assist you further.

I ran Tagrecovery.exe as Administrator and there was no popup and I don't think it ran at all. It never showed up in the Task Manager. I don't know what to make of this. So, for the heck of it I tried to reinstall Dell DataSafe Local Backup. Got the same error as before.
PS. Thank you very much for all of your assistance, I really do appreciate you.
