Reinstalled 64-bit Windows 7 Professional, need to reinstall drivers!
I originally had Dell drivers that came with my Studio 1555 laptop on Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit, from which I upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit. Recently I had upgraded to Windows 7 Professional 64-bit through a custom install, and now I'm sure some drivers need to be reinstalled (the sound is not the same for one!). Should I use the driver CDs that came with my laptop and install these? Or should I just download and install drivers from my support site? Should I do both? How would I know if a Dell driver is compatible with my OS? Thanks!

The drivers for your system are available here on the drivers and downloads page. Go to this link and change your product, enter your service tag (7 digit code at the base of your system). This will give you the drivers specific for your system. (There is variants in drivers due to customisations). Check it is Windows 7 64 bit.
I would first install standalone service pack 1 (second from the bottom) and standalone Internet Explorer 9 (if not included on your disc). It usually works better to have the latest service pack then install the drivers.
Ensure that you follow the driver install order.
Install Dell Webcam Centre

and Dell Support Centre.
Preinstalled programs that came with your system are available from My Dell Downloads (requires 32 bit internet explorer, can only download the software 3 times).
Also confer with "Rebuilding Dell 1555 with oem Win7 instead of using original reinstallation DVD" (I answered it in maybe some slightly more detail).
If interested also see recommended (mainly free) software.
Note if you have a webcam disc, or webcam drivers on your webcam disc, keep it handy. Many folk are having problems installing their webcams. Although it should be native to windows (I think). if you have any bother, post back.
