Restoring Dell Mini 10v with Ubuntu to Factory Settings
I am giving my Dell Mini 10v with Ubuntu to a friend and want to wipe the hard drive and return to factory settings but am finding that task to be nearly impossible. Can anyone help me out?

Hi there - Thanks for the link. I actually tired those steps earlier and in each case (pushing ESC at Dell Logo as well as trying to boot from a USB ISO) the computer just went on it's merry way and started up as usual. I think my Mini 10v is running Ubuntu 8.04 not 9.04 - I don't know if that makes a difference?

When I hit ESC after Dell logo it now takes me to a mostly blank screen with
MBR 2FA: (blinking cursor after)

In that case, you can just download and burn the ISO file to a CD and install from that.

PaulCello,
If you do not have the Ubuntu LTS DVD, you will need to download the Ubuntu ISO file, burn it to CD/DVD and install from there as suggested by IEEE488.
Of course, this assumes you have an external USB CD/DVD drive. If so, you insert the CD/DVD in the external drive and restart the computer. While the Dell logo is on the screen, press F12 to get to the Boot Options Menu. On that menu, simply use the arrow keys to highlight the CD/DVD/CD-RW select and press Enter.
