SD card reader for Inspiron 700m
Just bought a 2 GB sd card for my PDA and my Inspiron 700m reader can't read it. I had to upgrade the driver once after I purchased the laptop to get it to read the 1 GB card I used earlier, but the driver when I checked the driver just recently, it is the same version as I have now. Any ideas?

Download and install WindowsXP-KB896243-v6-x86-ENU.exe. Available within SP32017.EXE High-Speed Secure Digital(SD)Card Driver update from http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/hpcpqnk/us/download/23428.html
Download http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/hpcpqnk/us/download/23750.html and install SP33416.exe. Drivers are installed to C:\SWSetup\SP33416.
Go into device manager. Right click on the mass storage device and choose update driver. Choose 'Install from a list of specific location (Advanced)', hit next. At the bottom, select 'Don't search I will select from a list', then hit next. Select 'Have Disk' and specify C:\SWSetup\SP33416\Base\program files\Texas Instruments Inc\TIPCI and click OK. Choose the PCIxx21 device and click OK.
Have fun !!!

I'd like information about that update as well.
Earlier sneogeo mentioned the updated driver that airsickchicken mentioned causes the hybernate becomes unstable. Describe "unstable".

Ah, spoke to soon re my workaround since my printer apparently doesn't support writing to SD cards, only reading.
So I tried installing the updated driver as mentioned in l2techinarizona's post. I checked device manager and it said i had version 1.0.2.3 where the driver was showing 1.0.2.3 A01 so I thought it was worth a try. It was a very weird setup. When I ran it the first time all it did was uninstall the driver completely. After I rebooted i installed it again but I'm now just back where i started. This driver does not fix the problem. Nor was Windows device manager's Update Driver wizard able to find a more current driver on the web. Anyway, thought i'd post this so other's don't waste time on this.

Thank you airsickchicken. This works well for me and since I disable the hibernate feature anyway, I shouldn't have any side affects......here's hoping!
I've been trying to use an A-Data "My Flash" 150X Turbo 4 GB SD card in my Inspiron 700m with no success. Even many external card readers have trouble digesting this size of SD card. I followed your instructions, popped in the card and voilla...the computer recognized it and would even transfer files to it. Now I can use my 700m to load up these mega SD cards with movies and files to greatly increase the productivity of my iPaq 4150.
I just placed an order for more 4 GB cards....now that they work!
Thanks again!!!!!!
