I had this exact issue. Exact. The laptop was an E5410. I had identical symptoms, even down to holding the two shift keys and pressing Z, X, etc.
Tried software issues, tried different OS. Issue persisted. The solution that has 100% worked and restored all key functions, was to remove the keyboard from the laptop and clean the contacts and connector and reconnect them.
The cloth used came away black/grey so there was a lot of dirt there. Once cleaned and put back together, all keys work like new. I noticed that no one replied to your post, so I thought it would be nice to at least have a solution. Your issue is not software related.
