SSD Encryption
I bought Samsung EVO SSD disk with encryption option to my Vostro 3750 laptop. Samsung's materials says that to enable encryption of disk I need set HDD Password in bios.
So I did. I set up HDD password and cloned partitions data to the SSD disk. To test if its works I remove back bios password and ... system boot up normally without any password. I suppose that data is not encrypted, but ...
I switched new SSD disk with old one. After connected new SSD by USB I receive CRC error (?).
Can anyone tell me what is going on? Is data encrypted or not? How to make it in the correct way?

I have done some additional tests and my conclusion is:
- HDD password is stored on (surprise :) ) HDD / SSD. When disk is removed HDD password option in bios is inaccessible. When I switch disks then password depends on what disk is inside the laptop.
- HDD password does not state for encryption key. Samsung says that whole disk is encrypted. Maybe its true. But definitely my password is not a part of encryption key. Why? Because of I can change the password without rewriting disk. For example in truecrypt to change password which is a key too I have to create whole new volume and copy data.

Hi radeks11,
The details checked by you are correct the encryption is from hard drive manufacturer which stores the data encrypted on the hard drive. The HDD password is a feature available on the Dell system which would lock the hard drive so that any unknown person can access your system when you are away from the system. The HDD password is an extra security other than Windows login password.
