Scratch on Lid
Hey guys,
Minor problem. I have a scratch on the back of my Alienware M17xR4 (the lid, not the screen). While I suppose its not the most important of issues, it does bug me. I was just curious, what would be the best way to "repair" that scratch? Some kind of scratch remover? I've heard people using automotive scratch remover on their laptops, but the latest Alienwares have that weird, rubbery, alloy stuff, not pure metal. And also, it's automotive scratch remover, pretty obvious problem there. Or would it be best to replace the lid? If so, is it interchangeable with an R3 lid? They look about the same. Thanks in advance.

Hi IGLarrea,
If the scratch on the LCD cover is deep you will not be able to remove it. I would not advise you to use automotive scratch remover. You can use damp cloth to clean the system. Dell Alienware M17x R4 and R3 use the same LCD cover lid.

Fortunately the scratch is pretty small and doesn't really go deep at all, just more of a cosmetic thing on my part. Thanks a lot though!
