Screen flicker after opening lid...

hello,

i have searched the whole board, but nothing was useful..

System: I5100 w/ATI M7 32MB

well, i have updated my BIOS to A26, and my video driver to the latest, and installed dell quickset, now i have set my laptop to do nothing when i close the lid, so it does not hibernate/standby, it will just turn off the screen, now after i open the lid again, the screen will display for a second, then it will flicker once, then come back on, i have narrowed the chances of being hardware/OS problem, and it seemed like nothing wrong with the hardware, why, because i have entered in DOS mode, and then closed and opened the lid again and it the screen works great, no flickering, only after i enter windows in does that, i hope this issue will be answered....

That's what my brother's Inspiron 8500 does. It turns off the screen when shutting the lid and then turns it back on when opening it, but blinks during the process. That's just a way of your computer saving power and keeping cool.

It's probably just setting up the proper resolution. The screen always flickers when the resolution is being changed. Why does it bother you so much anyway?

well first my resolution is at its default, 1024x786 or something similiar, second, im used to my old A02 BIOS where u open the lid and screen is already on, plus sometimes this interferes with my screensaver...
