Service Tag Lookup - No Information associated with this system

Hello everyone.  I use Dell's Service Tag lookup feature quite a bit, but it seems to have changed lately.  I am getting many "There is no configuration information associated with this system" responses to system tags I look up.  This info was quite useful when looking to buy a used Dell product, but now it seems some of the older tags are no longer in the system.  Does anyone else see this when they do lookups?  Here is the link I use:  http://www.dell.com/support/troubleshooting/us/en/04/Index?c=us&l=en&s=bsd&cs=04&t=system   Thanks.

Same problem. Hoping it's just a burp in the Dell system today, as I was able to access the tag for my system a few days ago.... I have an XPS 730 from Sept. 2008 and am still in the process of diagnosing some issues, and was trying to find specs on some of the equipment... but now I have to just go with 3rd party review sites which are less trustworthy....

There seem to have been changes on the system configuration site. You must use Internet Explorer and not another browser. If you put in your service tag or allow the profiler to find it you cannot get the original configuration, but you can allow the profiler to get the current configuration. That might give you all the info you want.

I used IE, and it still gives the error. I am not looking for current configuration, I am wanting to see ORIGINAL configuration, as that contains some information not listed on current.

Thanks for the suggestion, Mary.  But I use this to determine the original configuration before I consider a purchase of a used dell machine.  It was a great tool to use to find out things like what graphics chip/card was used (Intel preferred over the nVidia chip) or what type of LCD screen (The Samsung LCDs are preferred over the LG ones.).  I found it very usefull.  It also came in handy when I was doing a repair on a machine.  Let's hope it is just a glich and that Dell has not done away with this useful feature on their site.  Is anyone from Dell browsing that could find out what happened?

I went to the site to check it out myself.  I put in my service tag for a notebook that is only a few months old.  I too am getting the note: There is no configuration information associated with this system.

I would guess that there is a glitch in the system.

Looks like the Original Configuration info is back.  I just did a couple of lookups and it is there.  Many thanks to whomever fixed it!!!
