Shame on Dell Webcam!

I have just bought a new laptop "Dell Inspiron 1564" since two days ago. It is with DOS (No OS). I discovered that there is no Dell Resource CD inside the box! So I installed Windows 7 64 Bit OS and downloaded the designated drivers from Dell's official web site. I followed the recommended sequence offered by Dell. Everything went on quite well untill I discovered that the integrated webcam does not work at all. To my astonishment everytime I try to launch the Webcam Center, I get the following message "No supported webcam driver detected. Please install the webcam driver using the Dell Resource CD and launch Webcam Center again".

I did 3 fresh setups to overcome this problem, but in vein! When I went through the web looking for a solution to my problem, I discovered that this is a common problem with this model, as many other people reported the same thing i.e. dell's webcam does not work!

Now I regret I bought a Dell's! I do not know what to do!

I am a Dell's fan since 15 years, and I always recommend Dell to all my friends and colleages. Now, I think, I have to change my mind and stop all of it.

Hi Royan,

Thank you for your help. You are great. Now my dell integrated weebcam is functioning for the first time. Why dell people do not fix/update this driver and save their clients a lot of hussle and mistrust? Strange!

Regards.
