Sigma Tel Audio Driver

Ok, first off, I've tried to download drivers through the Dell website, but:

* If I browse by model/type, I get "Unable to load system families."

* If I login and go off my model, I get 0 returned results

* If I input my Express Code, I get 0 returned results

I've been using the Dell site for drivers for several years and never had this problem. I can only hope it is a temporary database issue on their side.

Now, in the meantime, anyone know of an alternative download link for a Sigma Tel Audio driver for Vista? I have an Inspirion E1705 Laptop.

Thanks

Edit: Nevermind. While the Dell Driver downloads continues to be unable to show any results, Dell's European website isn't having problems and I was able to find my driver there. I'd delete this post, but that doesn't seem to be an option.

E1705 Vista drivers page seems to be working now. Must have been a temporary glitch.

You seem to be knowledgeable about enabling sigmatel stereo mix inputs, and you wrote (a long time ago):

"The problem is that on models like yours that have a Sigmatel 92xx audio chip, Dell has locked stereo mix away from the consumers for some reason. There are a couple of possible ways to unlock it, either by using a Sigmatel driver from another computer company, or by altering Dell's Sigmatel driver. What is your Operating System?"

How can I tell what fix, if any, works for me?

I have a Dimension 5100, WinXP SP2 with sigmatel card. I don't know how to determine the chipset of my sigmatel card.  Any help will be appreciated--thanks.

Steve,

Please start a new thread, but remember this is the Laptop Audio board so help for your desktop will be limited.

ahonma, you could also try out these Sigmatel v6.10.0.5866 audio drivers  on your Dell Inspiron 1705 laptop.

I would link you to the driver but can't because would need to know your operating system. The Latitude E6420 uses an IDT audio driver, not a Sigmatel.

Go to the Drivers & Downloads Product Selection page
and select "Choose from a list of all Dell products", then click "Continue".

On the next page select your product type, which is "Laptops".

On the next page select your model line, which is  "Latitude".

On the next page select your model name, which is "E6420".

On the next page select your operating system in the drop down box. Note: if you leave the page and later return by using your browser's Back button, you may have to re-select your operating system. Your selection will not be saved.

Next, expand the Audio category and download the IDT driver there.
