Slight grain on LCD - need some help!

Hi-

I have my XPS 1530 for two weeks now, but the screen looks a little grainy to me (not too much). This is especially evident when I change my desktop background with one of my pics. I have the LG - LPLDF00 panel 1440-900 and a NVIDIA GeForce 8400M card. From what I read so far, this is suppose to be the better LCD panel (I can’t even imagine what the Samsung looks like).

Are there any settings (I have set for highest resolution) which would improve the picture?

Would updating the ‘driver’ help?

Wow - how is one suppose to know this?

I take it this is a known issue... request a new panel?

Note that there were also negative feedback on graininess of WUXGA screens. Actually, there were more for them than the resolution you have.

Dell has started to offer LED LCDs for the same resolution you have. They cost more, like an additional 150 bucks, but they must be very bright, energy efficient and battery life friendly.

Since you have an issue and can ask for replacement, you could at the same time upgrade your panel to another one (by paying more of course).

Or stick with the normal resolution: 1280x800. I don't recall them having grainy screens. I own one and am pretty happy. In fact, any higher resolution would make for me harder to read than it is now (Eyes are fine but I sit with distance by using an external keyboard.)

Everyone - the LG panel is not bad at all...

I just want a perfect screen... Same as my TV (that's why I bought a plasma I guess)

Adjusting the settings helps alot (thru nvidia control panel).. there is a trace of grain still left though...

Anyone have the optimal settings figured out?
