Unless you bought the additional movie editing software, all you will have is Windows Movie Maker. Dell does not provide any editing software as a standard with the computer.
Thanks to both posters. I guess I was mistaken. There certainly were a number of applications for evaluation, including a graphics program. I thought there was some video editing application also. I've now used the Windows Movie Maker, which was OK, but slightly buggy and very slow, and it didn't always record back to my camera very well, even though I left the notebook alone during the process.
I guess I'll have to shell out some more money to do better.

For a free program it's good. Well, I suppose it's not free; Microsoft bundle so much with the OS that the OS now costs an arm and a leg. It has annoyances but it was certainly better than the free ULead program I got with a firewire card that I use in another machine.
Apart from the annoyances, the main problems were:
Losing sound when putting clips together or having the sound get way out of synch
It completely screwed up the last 13 minutes of a 45 minute video that I'd edited and put back onto DV tape. I needed to redo just that bit, but it didn't seem to provide a way to record part of the movie, so I had to create a new one and put it on the tape.
Anyway, I have more editing to do later, so I'll try the update first.
I have Windows Movie Maker as well as Showbiz and there are definite advantages to both. If I were working with a wav file, i definitely would prefer to work with Movie Maker. I think it is much more user friendly. It's downfall is that it is limited in the types of files it will work with; but, for a free program, you can't knock it.
I don't know if this will help, but windows update has an update for Windows Movie Maker 2. It's a 8+ MB download. I might give you some improvements at least untill you find a good program to spend $$$ on. For free it can't hurt to try.
