Squeaking Sound
My Inspiron N5110 has been making a squeaking sound (almost sounds like a bird chirping) for a few months now. Dell sent out just the fan to be replaced, and the replaced the motherboard, fan, pretty much everything but the hard drive, network card and memory when that didn't do it. It was silent for a few weeks, but has now come back with a fury. I really don't think its the fan, as it often happens when the fan is either off, or I can hear it humming along normally. Tech support told me my only option was to send it off to them for 7-10 days, but as this is my only computer, that is not an option. Any one have any ideas as to what it could be?

Hi martin2010,
Could you please check from which area do you get to hear the squeaking sound. Is it possible to remove the hard drive and check if you get to hear the sound? If the sound is heard only when you access data from the hard drive, you can run hardware diagnostics to identify the cause. If it's the hard drive that is making noise I would suggest you to back up all data to ensure there is no data loss if the hard drive needs to be replaced. It has to be the hard drive, CD/DVD drive or the fans that could be making this noise. If issue persists, depot may be the only option as they test the system in various conditions to recreate the issue and identify the cause.
To run hardware diagnostics, start the system and hit F12 key on the Dell logo screen. Select Diagnostics.
