Startup Repair Loop problem with XPS 17, please help!

Hello,

I have a Dell XPS 17 laptop that seems to be stuck in the Startup Repair Loop, and I have tried everything to get out of the startup reapir mode, but nothing seems to be working. I have tried F8, Safe Mode, System Restore (to two different dates), and the command prompt, but everything happened to no avail. I even did the Diagnostics test (long version), and that came up with nothing. I purchased the laptop back in October of 2010, and it has Windows 7. The laptop went into this Startup repair loop about a day after it did a Windows "Critical" update. One of the programs that the update tried to install onto my computer was Google Chrome (which it, according to the laptop, failed to install properly). It makes me wonder if the update uninstalled a driver, or turned a driver bad.

Two errors that I repeatedly get are "Corruptfile" and "Autofailover". I truly hope that this is something that can be fixed, and I hope that I will not have to restore my laptop back to it's factory settings.

Any advice would be appreciated!
