If you are trying to perform a System Restore (restoring the computer to an earlier date or tome), please refer the article on System Restore. **Note: By performing a system restore there would not be any data loss but any recent software or program installed would be lost.
In case you are trying to perform a PC Restore (taking the computer to its factory image), then refer the article on PC Restore. **Note: Please ensure to back up all the data from your computer before performing the PC Restore as it would erase everything from your computer.
Im trying to restore the entire laptop hard drive and all, but it won't run the discs nor do any of the 'follow the instruction' links help at all, I've been trying to get my laptop back so i can actually use it but it won't get past the black screen that tells you to insert the disc and restart the comp and go to repair computer.
In that case try running the Pre-Boot System Assessment (PSA / ePSA) Diagnostics which would run a diagnostics on all the hardware components and tell us any hardware is causing the problem. In case the test passes on all the hardware components and if you have the windows operating system disks, you can perform a clean re-installation of the operating system. Please refer the article on performing a Clean Re-installation of the Operating System.
