Studio 1555 not starting / charging
Hi,
I have a Dell Studio 1555 laptop, it is out of warranty. I had a problem 1 year back with the orange light blinking. I put a new battery and things were fine for some time. Recently there was an error message during start up that your battery is not compatible and press F1 to continue, I pressed F1 and it mentioned that cannot charge. The problem is that even if I connect the power chord it is not charging the laptop and once the bettery ran out of juice, the laptop stopped working. There is no light when I connect the charger and when I press the power button the laptop does not turn on. Is this an issue with the mother board? I tried checking the connection of the power cord, moving it to see if the light comes on, but it does not. I am based in Bangalore, can someone please help?
Best Regards,
Thanks in anticipation

Hi ashrafmeer,
Please connect the adapter to the power socket and check if there is a light on the adapter. Also try with a known good adapter and check if the issue persists.

Thanks Senthil. The blue light on the adapter side is glowing and today for a few seconds the white light on the laptop above the power socket also came on but it again stopped and the laptop stopped working. I have tried this with my friend's dell power cable as well and same issue.

Unplug the system, remove the battery and hold the power button for 30 sec. Remove and reinstall both memory modules. Plug in the AC power only and try booting. If it will, then try with the battery - if it'll power up without but not with the battery, the battery is bad. If it still won't power up, the mainboard is bad.

Thanks EJN63, apologies for the late response I was not at home. I tried all the steps till plugging in the AC power, the light on the laptop just above where the power chord goes in was on for 1 second and then went off. Pressing the power button did not turn on the laptop. Tried after inserting the battery too, but no success.

Hi ashrafmeer,
This seems to be an issue with the motherboard, please consider replacing it. You can contact the Dell India technical support referring to the link below.
