Studio 1737 support a maximum memory of 8GB with a 64-bit version of Windows and the maximum capacity of the hard drive supported is 500GB. It is usually shipped with either a 65W or 90W AC adapter. Upgrading the memory and the hard drive does not need a power supply upgrade.

I used to own a Dell Studio 1737. I did have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit installed and had no problems. The only issue was to make sure you have equally match RAM. Mismatched RAM caused some lines on the screen under heavy load. I had only 3GB RAM
I've already bought the Windows 7 upgrade and will clean install the 64-bit version. Crucial recommended a 1TB Seagate drive but it didn't have as good reviews as the WD 500TB and was was only 5400rpm. I feel really lucky that I accidentally bought the right one. Didn't occur to me to worry about the power supply until I'd bought everything.
Honestly, I can't wait to dig in and make this thing sing. :-)

Oh, I always wondered what the problem was with slightly different RAM cards. I played it safe and bought an 8GB kit.
Thanks for another tidbit saying so far so good. :-)
