Studio XPS 1645 Graphics Issue
Hi, pretty sure my ATI Radeon 4670 mobility card has died somewhat in the last few days (random lines across screen - like ghosted image, only boots in safe mode, BSOD due to atikmdag.sys)
Googling makes it sound like card needs replacing but is integral to mobo so need a new board.
Wondering if anyone has any ideas on replacing either card or motherboard or where to source them from.
Running the i7 chipset on win7 pro x64.
Other forum posts seem to suggest Y507R is the mobo needed as it supports the i7 socket.
Any advice or help available as I would like to rescue this one (paid the extras for the full LED display, slot load blu-ray rewriter etc...) rather than it end up as a door stop?

Have you had the chance to connect an external screen to the system because if it is working fine then the graphic card on the systemboard is working fine. If we can get the service tag of the system we can confirm if its integrated or an add-on card.
Also send us the screenshot of the distorted video images along with the service tag of the system sent via private message so that we can check the system specifications to assist you further.

Hi Jennifer, thanks for reply, will send you a pm with Dropbox link to screen grabs and the service tag ID. I haven't been able to try an external monitor as the laptop will only boot in safe made and the standard win 7 drivers won't detect a second screen (tried the vga and hdmi but no joy)
