Hi KatW88,

Welcome to the Community.

I would suggest you to perform diagnostics outside Operating System environment. To launch diagnostics, press and hold “Fn” key while turning on the system. Hold it down until the diagnostic starts. For more information click the link mentioned below:

http://dell.to/RO1v0p

Please refer to the link mentioned below for information on error codes:

http://dell.to/12IFoz8

If the diagnostics pass with no error code, perform BIOS update using the link mentioned below:

http://dell.to/112RdeP

Let me know if the issue persists after BIOS update.

NOTE: Ensure that the battery is more than 30% charged and the adapter is connected during the BIOS update process.

Thanks & Regards

Hi KatW88,

Did you update the BIOS of the system?

Please use the link mentioned in my previous post and select the operating system installed on the system. Update the BIOS.

NOTE: Ensure that the battery is more than 30% charged and the adapter is connected during the BIOS update process.

Try cleaning the vents with an air canister. Follow the directions on the can. See if it has accumulated dust and is overheating.

There was no visible dust but I'll let you know if that worked

I've run diagnostics-clean-, flashed the bios and cleaned the vents with no luck.
