TouchChip Fingeprint Coprocessor (WBF advanced mode)

Can you help me?

Re:Dell XPS M1530

I have TouchChip Fingeprint Coprocessor (WBF advanced mode) which was working merrily until I had to clone the HDD as the old one was failing.
I put in 1TB WD, the old one was 500GB Seagate. I have the latest driver for Windows 7, via Windows Update, for the Fingerprint reader. But trying to enroll new fingerprint data it tries go to this site:
But this site always down and I am unable to do anything further. Is this due to Apple buying Authentec? Will a new driver be released or the website back up?
Or how can I use the Authentec device now with my Windows 7 laptop? It was a very useful way to login the the laptop.
Thanks.

Hello Amoghn

I have the exact problem but instead of an XPS computer I have it on a Latitude E5530 computer. Do you have a solution for this kind of configuration? Thanks

Hi Orbyne,

Dell has not tested the system with Windows 7 and the drivers for the same are not available on the Dell support website. However, you may install the driver in compatibility mode. Please refer to the link: http://dell.to/16Cg00o, click download file and save it on the desktop. To install driver in compatibility mode, you may follow the steps below:

  • Right click ‘Setup’ file and click ‘Properties’
  • Click ‘Install in compatibility mode’
  • Click Application and select ‘Troubleshoot Compatibility’
  • Next, click ‘Troubleshoot Program’
  • Click ‘Program worked in earlier versions of Windows’
  • Click ‘Windows Vista’
  • Click ‘Start the Program’
  • Do not hit ‘Next’ until the installation completes
  • Once the installation completes, click on ‘Next’

You may update the system BIOS. Please refer to the link: http://dell.to/13zqXfS.

Keep me posted with the results. I will be glad to assist further.
