USB Device Not Recognized
2 days ago I suddenly started getting a USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNIZED error. Says, "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it." Its showing an "Unknown USB Device" under the USB Root Hub (6 ports).
Now the problem is, I don't have anything plugged into any of the USB ports. The USB ports have power to them but don't recognize anything that is plugged in. For example, my phone will charge but iTunes doesn't launch. The IR light on the mouse lights up, but the mouse doesn't work etc etc. This occurrs regardless of which USB port I use.
I've tried restoring to a date before the error started and I still get the error. I've updated the chipset as well as flashed the bios also. Device Manager shows everything working properly and all drivers up to date but the error still pops up and nothing works.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

start/control panel/device manager/click the (+) next to universal serial bus controllers.Right click all of the USB Root Hubs NOTHING ELSE,and delete them.Restart PC and windows will detect and reinstall the universal drivers.

Tried as suggested and problem continues. I believe I've isolated it to be coming from USB2 Enhanced Host Controller -293A. When I disable that one, the error stops (however the plug in's still don't recognize anything). I've even deleted that host controller and rebooted, however, as soon as it reinstalls the error comes right back.

@ Nancyoliver ... Mine is working again. I went into Device Manager and through trial and error found the USB controller that was causing the error. I disabled it and after a few re-boots the computer started going to the other controllers instead and now things are functioning as they should. Hopefully that works for you as well.
