USB device not recognized... nothing plugged in!!

Hello,

Someone please help.  This is driving me crazy.  I keep getting the error message that the USB device is not recognized when there is nothing connected to the computer at all.  It wouldn't be so bad if it didn't make that USB connection noise every time.  It happens very often.  Sometimes every couple of seconds.

I go into the USB root hub under devices and it says "Unknown Device"... but there is no way to read the properties of the mystery device.

By the way, this is a Dell Inspiron 1545 running Windows 7.

Any help would be appreciated, but I'm not too computer saavy... so talk to me like I'm a kid.

Thanks!

Having an identical issue.  I know this is an old post but curious if anyone else has found a solution.

Here ya go:

<ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>

The file is called R299115.exe which is 6.58MB

The actual driver is called Renesas USB3.0 Host Controller.

Just click the download link when you get to the site and download it and all will be well.

I am having the same error/problem, but I am running Windows Vista SP2.

I have downloaded this file but it has not corrected my problem.

Is a reboot needed after downloading this file?

I'm having the same problem with the same model but when i click the link it just says information for this driver is currently unavailable. I've checked on the drivers and downloads page and it doesn't come up on that list either
