Unable to find driver for Modem Device on High Definition Audio Bus

I have an Inspiron 1720. When I purchased the laptop, it was on Windows Vista but with all of the head aches I've been getting while using Vista, I decided to switch back to XP. I got almost all drivers for my laptop except for the Modem Device on High Definition Audio Bus driver. Can you help me

yes, I downloaded the one in the dell driver download. There were two of them, one for driver and one for diagnostic. Both of them are already installed but no change. In the device manager, its under the unknown device category and only a bluetooth modem in present in the modem category.

open device manager

make a right click on that modem device on high definition audio bus

go to properties

clik on 'Details' Tab

make sure that Device Instance ID is selected from the drop down menu

capture the VEN_xxxx ( xxxx being a number )

and the DEV_xxxx (xxxx being a number )

go to http://www.pcidatabase.com

enter the VEN number in vendor search

enter the DEV number in Device search

and search

u will know what device it is

and then hopefully

we can download that missing driver frm support.dell.com

i dont think that phone modem is still installed on your laptop - lets see

by the way - what is that Human Interface Device

It must be that Bluetooh Audio Device that is listed there , right?

How can the modem be not installed if it only disappeared after I installed windows XP. From the list of components I checked, its a conexant modem. Besides why would I search for the driver if I uninstalled it.

I already have the driver from support.dell.com, thats why I'm here because that driver wouldn't work. It's already installed but couldn't get the modem working.

right clik on the device in device manager , update driver , choose to install it manually , browse to the location of the extracted folder , and then try installing it
