Updating BIOS

Hi,

I am going to try and do an upgrade from Windows NT to XP.  I am told that prior to doing this I should update the BIOS.  I am not sure what this means or how to do it.  Can someone tell me how to do this or how to find out more info?  My other concern is that the computer I am updating will not be hooked up to the internet until I do the upgrade.  Can I update the BIOS on my laptop (that is hooked up online) and save it to a disk and then install it on my other computer that I am doing the updrade on? Thx!!

You need to down load the BIOS for the model of you notebook. The BIOS is different for every make and model of PC. You can download it from the Dell support website. You can download it to any PC that is connected to the internet and then copy it to a floppy disk.

Please do NOT use the hard drive method, use the floppy drive method to do the update. There are many site on the NET that explain how to upgate a BIOS. All lyou have to do is use google and type in BIOS flash how to or how to flash a BIOS or updating a BIOS. Any of those searches should bring up many sites with instructions.
