Updating Monitor Driver Question
Hi guys.
I am looking to update my monitor driver but I can't figure out what the monitor is. It is for my Inspiron 5150 laptop monitor. System hardware specs and the display settings call the monitor "Default Monitor" and and other places "(Multiple Monitors) on Radeon ####"
Is there a way to find out its manufactorer and model # ? I am planning to use this information to grab the update patch from the Dell Support Webpage. The drivers supposedly compatible with my system are listed below. Unfortunately I have no idea what monitor/model my system has. Thanks in advance.

sorry, you are right. Never knew (blush)
edit: check your reg for info - hkey_local_machine\system\currentcontrolset\enum\display
One of the sub-folders is the display type. SHP#### - it's Sharp. I think SAM### is Samsung, etc

Hmm..
I did as your instructed Ripper. I got these as the results:
Default_Monitor
IBM2193
MS_0000
What do you think Ripper? I'm also curious as to what IBM2193 is..

Looks like you have an IBM alright. This is what I found out:
I entered my Tag# into DL page to bring up available drivers. Monitor drivers were there of course, gave the long list, same as your last post. I then went to Dell Peripheral page and looked for the monitor models shown in the long list on the DL page. Guess what, they're all external LCD or CRT models, not the ones on our notebooks. Might be firmware or required drivers for using external monitors with our machines.
To further confirm the driver issue with my 8500, I looked at the "Driver Details" button on the properties page within the Device Manager and a window pops up and informs me that " No driver files are required or have been loaded for this device". Try updating/rolling them back and see what happens?
I suspect, and I may be wrong, but our native LCD does not require any drivers since it is integrated within the video adapter.
Is your 5150 equipped with an XGA? I ask this b/c I've never seen anyone post Dell LCD specs as IBM before.
Can anyone else shed light on this issue?

Yes, your answer makes much sense. I'll have to accept the fact its drivers are not upgradable atm. To answer your question.. I have a SXGA+ monitor in my Dell refurbished laptop.
Thanks Ripper
